MADIKWE GAME RESERVE AND BUFFALO RIDGE SAFARI LODGE

Madikwe Game Reserve is located close to the Botswana border and 20km from Gaborone. Buffalo Ridge Safari Lodge is the first wholly owned community based safari lodge to be developed in South Africa. The concept is unique in South Africa in that the communities own the development, with substantial benefits accruing back to the communities themselves.

With only 8 uniquely decorated suites, each with their own viewing deck, the lodge offers a very private experience. The thatched suites, with sliding doors from each room and shower allow the guest to experience a oneness with the bushveld. The central lodge is accessed via a wooden bridge that crosses a ravine surrounded by rock figs. The lodge is spectacularly located on two tiers of the Tweedepoort Ridge, with dining room and pool on the upper tiers and reception, lounge and sun deck on the lower tier.

Madikwe is home to both the black and white rhino, buffalo, elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog and wide variety of other animals and birds. It is one of the few reserves in southern Africa which is malaria free.
