Aardklop
Festival The annual Aardklop Festival is held in Potchefstroom. The festival offers theatre, dance, poetry, art, music and film, with an emphasis on Afrikaans, throughout the town, for five days at the end of September. |

Calabash The annual North West Cultural Calabash was established 10 years ago and centred in Taung, home of the famous Taung skull. From a one-day event, it has grown to a year-round happening that has a build-up of mini festivals in five regions with a grassroots competitive component, culminating in a weeklong cultural fair with the clout to attract such talent as gospel queen Rebecca Malope, guitar prodigy Selaelo Selota and the Ghanaian outfit Odehe. |

Awards Kora, established in 1994 by Ernest Adjovi, is the first pan-African music awards that is internationally recognized. Kora is the only non-sporting event broadcast live in Africa, Europe and Asia. The objectives of Kora are firstly, to promote African Artists and their works internationally, secondly to unite Africa and its Diaspora through music and the arts, and finally, to produce a world-class television show that portrays a positive image of Africa. |

Sun City Golf Challenge The Gary Player Country Club course is difficult and demanding. Since 1979 it has been the venue for the Nedbank Million Dollar Golf Challenge. The full 6 938 metre course is undoubtedly the toughest on the sub-continent. Like most Southern African golfing links, the course uses kikuyu grass on the tees, fairways and semi-roughs. |
