2015 Indaba

The North West Province…A World Class Province at Indaba 2015

The North West Province participated at the Durban Tourism Indaba 2015 to create a platform for the Tourism Products in the province to showcase what they have to offer. For over fifteen years now the province has ensured that it leaves no stone unturned at the Indaba in selling destination North West to the world.

This year has brought on differentiation in that the positioning statement is “Are Yeng Bokone Bophirima…Let’s go to the North West Province.” This is a call for all tourists, domestic, regional and international to heed the call to visit the North West Province of South Africa.

This statement cannot ring more true now as our stalwarts Ntate J.B Marks and Malume Moses Kotane have finally come back home to destination  Bokone Bophirima for their final rest,” commented Hon. Desbo Mohono, MEC for Tourism in the North West Province.

“We are in Durban to show the global market that we are a force to be reckoned with in the tourism industry. Along with our repositioning statement we are equally saying that our villages, townships and small dorpies are like a caterpillar…waiting to metamorphosise and become a butterfly! We are very excited in the fact that once this tripartite segmentation emerges, the butterfly in the name of Bokone Bophirima will soar brightly and bring the numbers to the North West Province like never before.”

The primary beneficiaries of participation in a show such as this are the co-exhibitors. The North West Province had a total of 16 exhibitors at the stand. Each co-exhibitor was selling its product as well as other products in its area. The secondary beneficiaries are the employees of each of these co-exhibitors. This speaks directly to the cardinal call of poverty alleviation through the creation of jobs.

Understanding the magnitude of such a Pan-African Trade Show, Province Bokone Bophirima ensured that it had a stand of great class. It was a stand that was aesthetically appealing, ensured free flow for both clients and co-exhibitors alike and allowed for business to flourish. This was equally agreed upon by the judges of stands for Indaba 2015 when they awarded the North West Province 1st Prize for category of Provincial Authorities.

Runners up were:
2nd Prize: KZN Tourism
3rd Prize: Free State Tourism
